The Old Thumpers defy all expectations with a crushing 8-3 victory over DRA in their Sunday League debut.

The Old Thumpers 3 – 2 Bute

The Thumpers’ second outing proves a more difficult affair, twice being pegged back by the plucky medics of Bute. However they weren’t to be denied, and an injury time winner from debutant Cameron Dryburgh sealed the points and kick-started a Lambrini-soaked celebration.

The Old Thumpers 5 – 1 Regs United

A third straight win for the Thumpers came courtesy of some spectacular goals from in-form wingers David Grosset, Leo Bargery and mercurial French playmaker Antoine Louette. A close first half included a vital penalty save from keeper Ross Gurbutt, and the Thumpers went on to romp home with three unanswered strikes after the interval to defeat a tiring Regs side.

The Old Thumpers 7 – 5 Sallies Old Boys

The Thumpers returned to winning ways with an exciting, hard-fought victory over Sallies. Talismanic midfielder Max Oster marked his return to the side with a superb hattrick, whilst Matt Batty scored a brace to help seal the win, after a second half fightback from the opposition

The Old Thumpers 4 – 1 Studs & Balls

The Thumpers turned in perhaps their most convincing performance yet, as they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Studs & Balls. First goals for Connor Brownell and Elliott Miskin helped the Thumpers into a 3-0 lead before an inadvertant fourth was added by Grosset to seal the fifth win of what is turning into an outstanding debut season.

The Old Thumpers 3 – 3 Samba Boys

The Thumpers were denied an historic win against the Samba Boys, as the opposition fought back valiantly from 3-1 down to draw level with a last-gasp equaliser. Captain James Gray had put the Thumpers ahead early on, and despite being pegged back before half-time, strikes from debutant Ross Hamilton and Matthew Batty gave them a two goal advantage. However it was not to be, and the Sambas roared back with two late goals, though even this failed to take the shine off a brilliant Thumpers performance.

The Old Thumpers 3 – 4 Strokers

Somehow finding themselves trailing 4-0 at half time to the in-form Strokers, the Thumpers pulled out their best performance yet, as they roared back in the second half, scoring three late goals. But for a tight refereeing decision in the final minute, they might have drawn level, but the Thumpers will take heart from their impressive showing, with Matthew Batty in deadly form up front, and the talismanic James Gordon grabbing his first goal for the club.
